Fairfield, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Fairfield Municipal Code § 12B.11, in Chapter 12B (Parks and Recreation), bars remaining, staying, or loitering in any public Park or Open Space Area between 30 minutes past sunset and sunrise the following day, unless the Director, a Park Ranger, or the Landscape Maintenance Manager has approved the presence in advance. People attending a City-sponsored activity are exempt from the curfew, and the Director can adjust the cutoff hours at any time.

Some individual parks post their own fixed hours on top of the sunset rule. One Lake Park, the city's lake park near Vanden Road and One Lake Drive, runs 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. under Section 12B.7(b)(1), with no swimming or lifeguard on duty and all watercraft required off the lake within half an hour of sunset. Rockville Hills Regional Park and other City-owned open space areas fall under the same general Director, Park Ranger, or Landscape Maintenance Manager oversight described in Section 12B.1.

Beyond the curfew itself, Section 12B.13 lets city officials close any section of a park at any time, temporarily or on a regular schedule, and post signs to that effect; ignoring a posted closure is separately prohibited under Section 12B.9(g). Camping in a park outside designated areas is also barred under Section 12B.12, regardless of the hour. Park Rangers, the Landscape Maintenance Manager, and designated City staff enforce all of Chapter 12B under Section 12B.17 and can eject anyone violating these rules.
