In unincorporated Island County, park hours are not legislated as a single clock time across the whole system; Island County Code § 9.40.080 instead delegates that job to the Parks Division: users must comply with the department's rules on times of closure, and anyone who has been given written permission to be in a park after hours must keep that permission on hand to show if asked. A related rule, § 9.40.190, bars leaving any motor vehicle, trailer, or boat trailer in a park area after the posted closing time (except for permitted camping or boat-launch use), and a vehicle left past closing may be towed at the owner's expense in addition to the 9.40.080 penalty.
