Full Breakdown
Section 17-4, 'Prohibited hours,' of the Chapter 17 parks and recreation article sets two separate curfews. m. from November 1 through April 30, reflecting shorter daylight hours in the winter months. Subsection (c) carves out three exceptions: school playgrounds under the control of the county board of education are not covered at all, parks or playgrounds hosting activities sponsored by the Macon-Bibb County recreation department are exempt during those activities, and Central City Park is exempt during an approved festival, fair or carnival. This curfew sits in the same article as the Section 17-7 list of prohibited park activities and the Section 17-8 Rosa Parks Square rules, all administered by the county's parks and recreation department rather than a separate city agency, consistent with the 2014 city-county consolidation.
Violations & Fines
Being on park grounds after hours without authorization or a qualifying sponsored activity is an offense under Chapter 17, enforced by law enforcement officers and park rangers who may issue citations; violations of the parks chapter generally carry fines under the Code's general penalty provisions, and repeat offenders can be removed from the premises.
