This is a real county rule. Montgomery County's regional trails are open sunrise to sunset, and each park, trail and historic site has posted hours; being in a facility beyond posted hours without permission is prohibited. Dogs must be leashed (six feet max).
The Montgomery County Division of Parks, Trails & Historic Sites (PTHS) sets and enforces the hours for county-owned parkland (montgomerycountypa.gov / montcopa.org). Rule 23 of the county Rules and Regulations states that operating hours are posted at each facility, that entering after those hours without permission is prohibited, and that regional trails are open only from sunrise to sunset. Rule 3 requires pets to be leashed on a lead no longer than six feet, with waste cleaned up, and bans them from buildings. Note this county curfew applies only inside county parks β a general youth/nighttime curfew on public streets, if any, is set separately by your borough or township.
Being in a county park or on a regional trail after posted/sunset hours without permission violates the PTHS Rules and Regulations and can result in ejection and citation by county park rangers or police. Off-leash dogs likewise violate Rule 3.
