Pawtucket, RI Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 294-4 of the Parks and Playgrounds chapter sets a citywide dawn-to-dusk operating window for every city park and recreation area, with the Director of Public Works or a designee empowered to authorize an exception by permit. Slater Park, the City's largest and most heavily used park, gets an explicit closure rule: it shuts entirely from dusk to dawn, and while closed no through traffic of any kind, on foot or by vehicle, is allowed on its roads. On-street parking inside Slater Park is prohibited around the clock, not just after hours.

During scheduled activities at the tennis courts, ballfields, the Pawtucket Community Players and ice skating, access is limited to people using those specific activities, and anyone seeking access for a different event after the park has closed for the night needs the Director's special permission under Subsection D. Because § 294-4 sits inside the general Parks chapter, a person found in the park after closing, or driving through Slater Park's closed roads, is enforced under the chapter's catch-all penalty at § 294-29, and park rangers or police can also invoke § 294-19's requirement to obey the directions of an enforcement officer or a representative of the Division of Parks and Recreation.
