Pawtucket, RI Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Pawtucket's supplementary parking regulations, Zoning Ordinance § 410-79C, single out major recreation equipment in residential zones: travel trailers, pickup campers or coaches, motorized dwellings, tent trailers, boats and boat trailers. The rule does not reach mobile homes or storage trailers, which are covered separately. Any qualifying boat, trailer or camper must either sit inside a completely enclosed structure, a garage or shed, or follow three outdoor conditions. First, a residential lot may host no more than one boat and boat trailer, camping trailer or noncommercial trailer at a time.

Second, none of that equipment may be parked between the primary dwelling and the street, which rules out front-yard storage even where a driveway reaches that far. Third, whatever sits outdoors must be kept in a condition fit for the safe and effective performance of its intended function, meaning a wrecked or non-functioning boat or camper cannot simply sit on the property. Two further rules round out the section: § 410-79D bars using any parked boat, camping equipment or trailer for living, sleeping or housekeeping purposes while stored on a residential lot, and § 410-79E requires that any such equipment be owned and registered to a person who actually resides on the premises, so a neighbor cannot store an RV or boat on someone else's residential lot.
