Pawtucket, RI Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

City Code § 388-33 sets the baseline: on-street parking is permitted on both sides of Pawtucket streets 24 hours a day except where a street already carries posted parking regulations. Section 388-34 requires any vehicle parked at a curb to sit with its right-hand wheels parallel to and within 12 inches of the curb, or the left-hand wheels within 12 inches where left-side parking is posted; parking more than a foot from the curb is its own $25 violation under § 388-5B(1). The real substance sits in § 388-36, which lists 17 places where stopping, standing or parking is banned outright even without posted signs, including on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection or crosswalk, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 50 feet of a railroad crossing, and against any curb painted yellow.

The fine schedule in § 388-5B(1) prices several of these individually: parking to obstruct a driveway is $25, parking within 20 feet of a corner is $25, parking within 8 feet of a fire hydrant is $38, and double parking is $25. Late fines double after 14 days unpaid and triple after 28 days, and five or more unanswered tickets authorize a tow. Owners are jointly liable with whoever parked the vehicle unless they can show it was parked illegally by someone not under their control.
