Pismo Beach, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

The closure is printed in Pismo Beach Municipal Code § 12.20.210, part of Chapter 12.20, the public beach and pier use regulations. It bars any person from being upon or within the pier zone between eleven p.m. one day and four a.m. the next day. This page covers the Pier Zone curfew as the code prints it. The sections quoted here are not a citywide park-hours rule.

The definition in § 12.20.185 sets the map. The pier zone is any public sidewalk, bench, lawn, street, parking lot or other area owned or controlled by the city, bounded on the west by the mean high tide line of the Pacific Ocean, on the north by the northern edge of Pomeroy Avenue, on the south by the southern side of Hinds Avenue, and on the east by the easternmost line of the city pier parking lot. The entire city pier and the boardwalk extending from it are included.

The exception is a fishing permit. Under § 12.20.230 the police department issues a permit for bona fide fishing from the pier itself, and one-day permits are issued promptly and without charge. A person going to or returning from the pier on a permit cannot delay or loiter on the parking lot, the plaza area or the portions of the pier inland of the tideline.

Two related sections cover vehicles and signs. Section 12.20.220 makes it a parking violation and an infraction to drive, park or leave a vehicle on the pier parking lot, plaza area or pier between the same hours, and the vehicle is towed away and impounded at the owner's expense. Vehicular through traffic passing without delay directly through the lot from Pomeroy to Hinds is not unlawful. Section 12.20.240 requires the city to post signs, approved by the chief of police, that tell the public the closure hours.
