Porterville, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Municipal Code section 19-11(A) makes it unlawful to enter, remain in, or refuse to leave Murry, Westview, Olivewood, Noon Lions', North or Zalud park between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Subsection B carves out one exception: the Zalud park tennis courts are excluded from the overnight closure, so they can stay open past 10:00 p.m. The closure, adopted by Ordinance 1219 in 1980, applies only to the six parks named in the section; it doesn't create a blanket citywide park curfew, and it's separate from the Porterville municipal golf course closure rules in section 19-10, which bar entry or presence on the golf course whenever it's closed to public play, backed by its own $500 fine.

Enforcement of the park curfew falls to the Porterville Police Department, and because section 19-11(C) doesn't set its own fine amount, a violation is punished under the code's general penalty section 1-9: a misdemeanor carrying a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to six months in jail, unless the city attorney agrees to prosecute it as a lesser infraction. Each day, or each instance, a person remains in violation can be charged as a separate offense under that same general provision.
