Walla Walla County, WA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Walla Walla County's only area-specific access curfew in its code applies to Quarry Pond, described in § 9.22.020 as a portion of the Columbia River located approximately three miles south of Burbank, west of Highway 395, within Lots 20, 21, 28 and 29 in Township 8, Range 31. Section 9.22.030 states: 'No person shall trespass upon said Quarry Pond or that area surrounding said Quarry Pond and more particularly described in Section 9.22.020, during the hours of nine p.m. and six a.m., and that area shall be closed during said times to the public.' Chapter 9.22 was enacted in 1974 under Ordinance 100 and renumbered from former Chapter 12.16 by Ordinance No.

375 in 2009; it was written primarily to keep swimmers out of the pond seasonally, and § 9.22.020 separately bans swimming, wading or entering the pond from June 1 through October 1, but the § 9.22.030 hours-of-closure rule runs year-round on top of that seasonal swimming ban. There is no equivalent general closed-after-dark rule for other county parks or recreation grounds in this code; the Quarry Pond closure is the only nighttime area-access restriction Title 9 contains. Violation is a criminal offense rather than a civil infraction: § 9.22.040 sets the penalty at a fine of not more than one hundred dollars or not more than thirty days in the county jail, or both, for each separate offense.
