Walton County, FL Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 14-14 of Chapter 14, Parks and Recreation, sets the county's park operating hours. Subsection (a) bars any person from being or remaining in a park between sunset and sunrise of the following day, with three exceptions: areas the department has designated as 24-hour launching areas, areas where lighting has been provided for a specific after-dark activity, and anyone who holds a written permit from the department allowing presence during those hours; the curfew also does not apply to law enforcement officers or department employees on duty.

Subsection (b) extends the same sunset-to-sunrise limit to vehicles, barring anyone from parking or leaving a vehicle parked on a park driveway, parkway or parking area between sunset and sunrise, unless the vehicle is in a 24-hour launching area or the spot has after-dark lighting. Subsection (c) is an outright, hours-independent ban: no overnight camping is permitted in any Walton County park, a rule that expressly repealed the county's older Ordinance No. 85-9 to the extent it conflicted. The curfew sits alongside Section 14-15, which lets the county administrator close or limit access to any park at other times as well, for public health, safety or welfare, and alongside Section 14-16, which bars entering any park area posted as unfinished, under construction, or withheld from public use. Enforcement of the curfew and camping ban falls to sheriff's deputies, code enforcement officers and designated park officials under Section 14-22.
