Walton County, FL Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

08 of the Walton County Land Development Code requires any use with a gross floor area that generates deliveries or shipments to provide offstreet loading facilities. The Code sets a sliding scale tied to building size: a project under 25,000 square feet needs one loading berth, two berths cover 25,000 to just under 80,000 square feet, and the requirement climbs step by step up to eight berths for buildings between 460,000 and 590,000 square feet. Beyond that ceiling, the Code adds one more berth for every additional 90,000 square feet, or fraction of it, of gross floor area.

Subsection (A) sets the minimum size for each loading space at 250 square feet, not counting the maneuvering area a truck needs to get in and out. Subsection (B) is a flat prohibition: no part of a truck or van loading or unloading at the site may extend into the right-of-way of a public thoroughfare, so the loading area has to be designed entirely on private property.
