Clark County's parks drone policy was updated by the Board of County Commissioners in February 2026 to expand drone-approved locations from 8 to 28 parks, including Aliante Nature Discovery Park, Veterans Memorial Park, and Acacia Demonstration Gardens. Operations in non-approved Clark County parks remain prohibited under the County Parks & Recreation rules unless the operator holds a special-use permit issued by Parks & Recreation. Racing or maneuver-type drones require a special-use permit even in approved parks. All operations must comply with NRS 493.109 — Nevada's drone statute making it a misdemeanor to fly within 5 miles of any airport without FAA authorization or airport operator permission — and with FAA 14 CFR Part 107 commercial rules, 49 USC §44809 recreational rules, and Remote ID broadcast requirements. Clark County parks lie within the Class B airspace surrounding McCarran/Harry Reid International, so LAANC authorization is required across most of the valley.
Unauthorized drone use in a Clark County park violates Clark County Code §19.04.080 (Park Rules) — punishable by ejection from the park and citation up to $1,000. NRS 493.109 violations are misdemeanors (up to 6 months jail, $1,000 fine). FAA violations carry civil penalties up to $32,666 per violation under 49 USC §46301.
