Everett, WA Environmental Rules: Boat Dock Permits (2026)

EMC 19.37.050(B)(5) sets dock standards for critical areas: streams, lakes, and wetlands outside the jurisdiction of Everett's shoreline master program. New docks max out at four feet in width, twenty-five feet in length, and five feet in height above the ordinary high water mark, with grating providing at least 50% open surface, no creosote or arsenate-treated materials, and a fifteen-foot setback from interior lot lines unless shared with the neighbor. Each residential lot gets only one dock, and covered overwater moorage is banned outright. Docks on Puget Sound or the Snohomish River shoreline instead fall under the city's state-approved Shoreline Master Program (EMC 19.33D) adopted under RCW ch. 90.58.
