Anne Arundel County erosion and sediment control is governed by Article 16-4 (Soil Erosion and Sediment Control), implementing the Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control (2011). E&S plan required for disturbance of 5,000 sq ft or more or 100+ cubic yards of earth. Required BMPs: silt fence, stabilized construction entrances, sediment traps/basins, erosion control matting, temporary stabilization (seeding) within 14 days. MDE-certified Responsible Personnel required on site. Steep slopes (15%+) and Critical Area properties have enhanced requirements. Inspections by Anne Arundel County DPW.
Missing controls: stop-work, $500-$2,500. Sediment discharge to waters: $1,000-$25,000 per day. State MDE enforcement possible.
