Annapolis Zoning Code Β§21.60.070 regulates fence and wall heights. Front yards: 4 feet maximum. Side and rear yards: 6 feet maximum. The Planning and Zoning Director may grant an administrative adjustment of up to 4 additional feet above the standard maximum in certain circumstances. Fences may not obstruct sight visibility triangles at intersections. The finished (attractive) side must face adjacent properties and public rights-of-way. In the Annapolis Historic District, all new fences and fence replacements require Historic Preservation Commission review for compatibility with historic character. Waterfront properties must observe Chesapeake Bay Critical Area buffer rules.
