Delano Development Code §20.10.90.1 limits residential front-yard and street-side-yard fences to 40 inches tall. Interior side and rear yard fences may be up to 6 feet, measured from adjacent grade.
On lots with sidewalks where the lot grade is at least 2 feet higher than the adjacent sidewalk, the 6-foot side/rear height may be increased to a maximum of 8 feet measured from the sidewalk grade — but only if 2 feet of landscaped area is provided between the sidewalk and the fence for every 1 foot of added height. Reverse corner lots are governed by the 40-inch front/street-side rule.
Administrative citation through code enforcement; overheight fences may be ordered removed or reduced.
