Coral Springs restricts fence materials in residential zones. Front yard fencing must be decorative only, and chain link fencing is prohibited in front yards of residential zoning districts. Wood fences must use decay and termite-resistant materials per Section 2326.2 of the building code.
The Coral Springs Land Development Code and Fence Installation Permit Packet regulate fence materials. In all residential zoning districts, front yard fencing must be decorative only. Chain link fencing is not permitted in the front yard area of residential properties. Wood fences must be constructed of decay and termite-resistant material as specified in Section 2326.2 of the building code. All fasteners must be corrosion resistant. Vertical posts must be nominal 4x4, minimum #2 grade, embedded 2 feet into a concrete footing that is 10 inches in diameter and 2 feet deep. Fences over 4 feet require a minimum of 3 horizontal rails (nominal 2x4), while fences 4 feet or less require 2 rails. A black or bronze coated vinyl chain link, metal rail fence, or wrought iron fence may be used adjacent to canal rights-of-way or water bodies.
Using prohibited materials results in a code violation. The fence may need to be replaced at the owner's expense. Civil penalties up to $500 per violation through Code Compliance.
