Acceptable fence materials in unincorporated PBC include wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain-link (rear/side only in residential zones), CMU walls, and PVC. Razor wire is prohibited; chain-link in front yards is restricted in most residential zones.
PBC ULDC Β§5.B.1.A.4 sets material standards. Decorative side facing outward is required. Chain-link in front yards is allowed only in AR (Agricultural Residential) and some industrial zones. Wood fences must use treated lumber; raw plywood and particle board are prohibited. Hurricane-grade aluminum (powder-coated, .055 gauge) is the standard for new construction on the coastal barrier islands and the Intracoastal Waterway frontage.
