Municipal Code Sec. 4-161(a), the general building permit fee schedule, states that before a permit is issued to a contractor, owner, or agent for the categories of work listed in the section, a fee must be paid to the Director of Finance. Item (9) of that schedule specifically covers fences, setting a permit fee for residential, commercial, and industrial fences, with the exact dollar amount kept on file in the office of the City Clerk rather than printed in the code text itself. This fee schedule sits alongside the same section's fees for one- and two-family dwellings, multifamily buildings, offices and mercantile buildings, factories and warehouses, alterations, demolition, building moves, swimming pools, and erosion control permits, all administered through the Inspection Division under Chapter 4's permit article.
