Appleton, WI Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 19-95 of the Appleton Municipal Code creates two categories of loading zones to keep commercial deliveries from causing double parking. Truck loading zones are reserved for motor vehicles designed, used or maintained primarily to transport property, and only while they are actively being loaded or unloaded; those vehicles may occupy the zone for no more than thirty minutes. To qualify, the vehicle must display commercial signage on both sides that is magnetic, static cling vinyl, a decal or permanent paint (vinyl cannot go on tinted windows), no smaller than eight and a half by eleven inches, in lettering at least two inches tall, in a color that clearly contrasts with its background, and legible from twenty feet away.

Passenger loading zones serve a different purpose, quick passenger pickup and drop-off; any motor vehicle may park there for up to ten minutes unless the City has posted a different time limit by ordinance. Because § 19-95 does not set its own forfeiture, a violation, overstaying the time limit or using a zone without the qualifying signage, falls to the general parking-restriction forfeiture in § 19-90(d): forty-five dollars, reduced to twenty dollars if paid within fifteen days.
