Oyster Bay, NY Filming & Production: Location Permits (2026)

Section 118-4 sets the application steps for a Chapter 118 filming permit, which Section 118-3 requires before any commercial or student filming or base camp can be set up anywhere in Oyster Bay. The application must be filed with the Town Clerk at Town Hall during normal business hours at least ten days before any activity begins, and must state the name of the person or entity owning the film rights, the location coordinator's contact information, the purpose of the filming, the specific locations of the properties to be used, the dates and times the properties will be used, and a description of all motor vehicles and bulk equipment with their registrations and license plate numbers.

Critically, the application must include the written consent of the owners of every property where filming will take place, not just a general Town permit. 1 lets a production that already held a permit within the last twelve months, with no written resident complaints, reapply on an expedited three-business-day basis instead of the standard ten days.
