Pocatello, ID Filming & Production: Location Permits (2026)

Section 5.06.035 of the Pocatello City Code places commercial photography and video recording, whether attached to a permitted activity or event or booked as its own scheduled service, under the same licensing chapter that governs park vending and concessions. Subsection A requires the applicant to pay applicable fees and to carry insurance; subsection B requires that the approved City license or permit be physically present on site whenever recording takes place. Because § 5.06.035 sits inside Chapter 5.06, the general application rules of § 5.06.040 apply: a production must file with the Director of Parks and Recreation at least twenty five days before the shoot, forty days if it needs one of the discretionary exception locations, describe the proposed site and dates, and supply proof of at least $500,000.00 in combined liability insurance naming the City as an additional insured.

The Director reviews and approves or denies the permit within ten days under § 5.06.050, and license fees are set by City Council resolution under § 5.06.070. A denied applicant may request, in writing to the City Clerk, a hearing before the City Council. Permits are nontransferable and nonassignable, and, as with other Chapter 5.06 licenses, may be limited to a specific site and time period so that only one licensed production or vendor occupies a given location at once.
