Taylor, TX Filming & Production: Location Permits (2026)

Under Section 6, item 4 of the city's Fee Schedule for City Services (Appendix B to the Code of Ordinances), a production filming anywhere on city-controlled property in Taylor first pays a $25-per-day Film Application Fee. That covers only the paperwork; the schedule then layers on a location-use charge depending on how much of the property the shoot occupies. Total or disruptive use during regular operating hours of a public building, park, right-of-way, or public area runs $500 per day, while partial, non-disruptive use of the same categories of property is billed at $250 per day.

A separate line, item F, adds $50 per day for parking film trailers, buses, catering trucks, and other large production vehicles in city lots or on city streets, and item G adds a flat $250-per-day charge for filming that requires at least one police officer and vehicle on scene, on top of the hourly police security rates in Section 9 of the same appendix ($25 per hour for a unit, $60 per hour minimum for an off-duty officer). 2025-23, Section 2, effective October 23, 2025, and apply citywide to any production using a public building, park, right-of-way, or other public area within Taylor city limits. The schedule does not distinguish between student, non-profit, and commercial productions, so the same per-day rates apply regardless of budget or purpose.
