Full Breakdown
Fargo Municipal Code § 10-0316 makes it unlawful to offer for sale, expose for sale, sell, use, explode, or possess any fireworks within city limits. The only retail exception applies to a location that sold fireworks before being annexed into Fargo; the fire chief may issue a permit letting it sell during the June 27–July 5 window, but the enclosure must sit at least 1,000 feet from the nearest residential zoning district and residential building. Supervised public fireworks displays require a separate permit from the Fargo Fire Department, which vets the operator's competence and the safety of the display site before approving it.
Violations & Fines
Selling, using, exploding, or possessing fireworks within Fargo city limits is an ordinance violation, treated as an infraction under § 1-0305(B) since § 10-0316 is not listed among the Class B misdemeanor sections.
