North Carolina is one of the strictest states for fireworks under N.C.G.S. §14-410 et seq. Only 'ground-based sparkling devices' are legal, including sparklers, fountains, snakes, and smoke devices. ALL aerial fireworks, firecrackers, Roman candles, and rockets are illegal for consumer use. Cities cannot authorize fireworks beyond what state law allows. Professional display permits available through the NC Fire Marshal. Violations are strictly enforced, especially around July 4th. Greensboro follows these state restrictions.
