Greensboro has no citywide overnight street parking ban for standard vehicles. Oversized vehicles over 80 inches wide or 30 feet long are prohibited from street parking overnight.
The Greensboro Code of Ordinances does not prohibit overnight street parking for standard passenger vehicles citywide. Residents may park on public streets overnight in most residential areas, subject to posted restrictions, parking meter zones, and any neighborhood-specific permit programs. However, the oversized vehicle ordinance in Chapter 16 effectively bans overnight parking of vehicles exceeding 80 inches in width or 30 feet in length, as these vehicles may only park on public streets during active loading, emergency service, or construction. Downtown Greensboro has separate metered and time-limited parking zones enforced by the Parking Operations division. Some streets have posted time limits or no-parking zones that apply around the clock. Vehicles left in any location for more than seven consecutive days may be treated as abandoned under the abandoned vehicle ordinance. Contact Greensboro Parking Operations or Parking Enforcement through the Police Department Traffic Enforcement Division at (336) 373-2216 for specific street restrictions.
