Greensboro Chapter 16 restricts commercial vehicles over 80 inches wide or 30 feet long from residential streets except during active loading. Escalating penalties apply.
The Greensboro Code of Ordinances Chapter 16 addresses commercial vehicle parking through its oversized vehicle provisions. Vehicles exceeding 80 inches in width or 30 feet in length, or any vehicle with an attached trailer, may only park on public residential streets during active loading or unloading, emergency service provision, or temporary construction use. This effectively prohibits overnight street parking of most commercial trucks, box trucks, and vehicles with equipment trailers. The Land Development Ordinance further regulates where commercial vehicles may be stored on residential property, generally requiring them to be on improved driveway surfaces and screened from public view where applicable. Weight restrictions on certain residential streets may also limit where heavy commercial vehicles can travel and park. First-time violators receive a warning, with escalating penalties of $75 for the second offense and potential towing for further violations within 12 months.
