Marin County does not permit Safe and Sane fireworks anywhere in the county. The ban reflects Marin's status as a high wildfire risk area with extensive Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) zones.
Possession or use is a misdemeanor. Typical penalty is about $410 — a $100 base fine plus $310 in assessments. Cases involving fire damage can trigger civil cost-recovery for suppression plus additional state charges.
