Cedar Park, TX Fire Regulations: Wildfire Zones (2026)

Unlike the City of Austin (the only Texas municipality to adopt the IWUIC), Cedar Park has NOT adopted the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code and does not impose mapped WUI zone hardening standards (e.g., Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents, or 100-ft defensible space ordinances). Wildfire risk is addressed through the City's voluntary Wildfire Prevention program, which recommends Firewise construction (fire-resistive materials, sealed eaves, ember-resistant vents), Firewise landscaping (minimum 30-ft defensible space radius, removal of laddering fuels, irrigation within 30 ft), and registration with Warn Central Texas for emergency alerts. The Texas A&M Forest Service's Texas Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal maps Williamson County as moderate-to-high wildfire risk in the western/cedar-dominated areas that overlap Cedar Park's western ETJ. Within incorporated Cedar Park, baseline building code requirements come from the 2021 International Building Code and 2021 International Fire Code (Cedar Park Code Art. 5.01 and Art. 3.01), not a wildfire-specific overlay.
