Davie, FL Fire Regulations: Wildfire Zones (2026)

The Town of Davie does not designate official wildfire-hazard or wildland-urban-interface (WUI) zones with mandated defensible-space requirements, the way fire-prone California or Colorado communities do. South Florida's wildfire risk is real but different in character: it is driven by dry-season conditions (typically late fall through spring) in the Everglades-adjacent grasslands, wetlands, and conservation areas that border much of western Davie. The most relevant protective rule is that open burning of yard trash and household waste on occupied residential premises is prohibited under Broward County Code of Ordinances Chapter 27, Article IX (section 27-286), which limits one common ignition source. During drought and elevated fire-danger periods, the Florida Forest Service (a division of FDACS) can issue burn bans and burn-authorization suspensions that apply countywide, overriding any otherwise-allowed recreational burning. Residents near open natural areas should keep dead vegetation and combustible debris cleared from around structures, use spark-arresting screens on any outdoor fire, and avoid recreational fires entirely on high-wind or red-flag days. Davie's Fire & Life Safety Division and Fire Rescue respond to brush and wildland fires and enforce the Florida Fire Prevention Code's prohibition on fires that create a hazard.
