On March 24, 2025, CAL FIRE released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps for Local Responsibility Areas, the first comprehensive revision since 2007-2011. The maps identify Yorba Linda as having Moderate, High, and Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, and more than 4,700 of approximately 6,500 affected acres fall within the Very High category, concentrated in the canyon and hillside neighborhoods that burned in the 2008 Freeway Complex Fire.
