Jefferson Parish, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Sec. 22-78(a) governs temporary operation: before a mobile food dispensing vehicle or mobile catering vehicle sells at a single location for no more than 30 minutes, the operator must apply to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for a sales-from-temporary-stands-or-vehicles registration. The application must include a current lease or letter of permission from the property owner showing the exact sales location, the latest Louisiana Department of Health inspection report, the vendor's valid LDH permit for both the vehicle and its required commissary or depot, state and parish occupational license and sales tax numbers, and a zoning clearance form.

That permit runs for up to one calendar year, and renewal applications cannot be filed before September 1 of the preceding year. A vendor can relocate without a new permit as long as no single stop exceeds 30 minutes in a 24-hour period; seafood vendors and mobile snowball vendors that sell nothing else are exempt from that time limit under Sec. 22-78(a)(4). Sec. 22-78(b) covers special events: vendors must separately register annually with the Department of Citizens' Affairs, providing the same LDH documents plus proof of Louisiana vehicle registration, automobile insurance, at least $500,000 in commercial general liability coverage naming the parish as additional insured, and a current Jefferson Parish/Eastbank Consolidated Fire Prevention Permit.

Sec. 22-77 separately requires every vendor to maintain an inspected depot or commissary for storage and cleaning, and bars keeping food in the vehicle when it isn't actively selling.
