McCracken County, KY Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Zoning code § 150.041(J) makes the Planning and Zoning Administrator, acting as Mobile Food Administrator, responsible for issuing mobile food permits. Vendors must first obtain other required inspections and permits, including a current county business license and Purchase District Health Department clearance, and must pass a fire inspection performed by the Paducah Fire Prevention Division at a cost set by the City of Paducah. Once an application is complete, the Administrator must issue or deny the permit within 14 business days; permits run for one calendar year and may be renewed annually before expiring, but a lapsed permit cannot be renewed and requires a fresh application.

The application fee is $50 and renewals cost $25 (§ 150.041(J)(4)). Vendors must give the Administrator 48 hours' written notice before operating, including the business name, contact information, planned location and dates, written landowner permission if required, and proof of a currently valid permit; failing to give notice is grounds for revocation (§ 150.041(E)(1)). The Administrator may revoke a permit for false information on the application, a threat to public health or safety, or violation of the section or any other county ordinance (§ 150.041(J)(7)), and a revoked vendor must wait one year before reapplying. Revocation decisions can be appealed to the Board of Adjustment under § 150.107, whose decision is final (§ 150.041(J)(8)).
