McCracken County, KY Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 150.041(D) of the zoning code limits mobile food vehicle operation to the Commercial, Light Industry, and Heavy Industry zones, expressly prohibiting all other zones except for permitted use in public parks. Section 150.041(E) bars mobile food vehicles from state or county rights-of-way entirely and forbids locating within 100 feet of the principal entrance of any restaurant that derives more than 50% of its sales from food. A truck cannot operate more than 14 consecutive days at one location, and once that period expires it cannot return to the same spot until 30 days have elapsed (§ 150.041(E)(1)).

Vendors on private property need the written permission of the property owner, and operating in a public park requires written permission from the County Judge Executive or designee (§ 150.041(E)(2)). Trucks cannot obstruct traffic, pedestrian flow, traffic-control signage, driveways, alleys, or fire lanes (§ 150.041(E)(3)). The section exempts ice cream trucks that stop no more than ten minutes at a time, food vending push carts or stands, and vehicles on private property not serving the general public that stay under 72 hours at one location (§ 150.041(C)).

Parking requires a minimum of eight spots per vehicle if the truck sets up on a stand-alone lot rather than an existing business's parking lot (§ 150.041(F)).
