Pocatello, ID Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Pocatello City Code chapter 5.06 governs any vendor selling food, beverages or merchandise from a mobile concession, mobile concession vehicle, cart, stand or booth in a city park or other public place, and section 5.06.030 makes it unlawful to sell there without first getting a concession permit from the Parks and Recreation Department. Applications go through the Director of Parks and Recreation and must be filed at least twenty-five days before the first day of sale, or forty days if the location needs a special exception; the application must describe the food or merchandise to be sold, the exact location and dates, the type of concession unit, and it must come with proof of at least $500,000 in combined liability insurance naming the city as an additional insured.

The Director reviews and approves or denies applications within ten days of a complete filing and fee payment, and a denied applicant can request a hearing before the Pocatello City Council. Licensed vendors must also meet Southeast Idaho Public Health's food and beverage requirements, carry workers' compensation coverage under Idaho law, keep a trash container at the unit, and cannot use city power, tables or trash service without separate written permission and payment. Mobile concessions and mobile concession vehicles cannot park on park turf without special permission, and cannot block a sidewalk to less than five feet of clear passage or sit near a street corner, crosswalk or driveway.

Separately, chapter 8.08 requires any vendor selling food on municipal property to have a concession granted by the city council and bars sales from the traveled portion of any public street.
