Ascension Parish, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 13-207 of the Ascension Parish Code ties food truck operations to the parish's zoning map. Subsection (a) limits food trucks and trailers to whatever zoning districts are marked allowable on the use matrix in Appendix I of the Ascension Parish Unified Land Development Code, cross-referenced to UDC Appendix II, section 17-2051's specific use criteria for food truck and trailer vendors, unless the vendor is otherwise exempt. Subsection (b) permits food trucks to do business in the parish's public rights-of-way, but only if they also follow the separate right-of-way standards in section 13-208, covering distance from schools, intersections and parking-space limits.

Subsection (c) draws a hard line against a specific kind of site: food trucks and trailers may not conduct business on a vacant or abandoned lot, regardless of its zoning district. Because the allowable-district list lives in the UDC's use matrix rather than in the Code of Ordinances itself, an operator has to check both documents, the operational license chapter (13-204 through 13-212) and the UDC use table, before choosing a location. The rule applies only to unincorporated Ascension Parish; Gonzales, Donaldsonville and Sorrento each set their own food truck zoning rules within city limits.
