Lubbock food trucks may operate on private commercial property with owner permission and in designated zones at city parks and special events. Operating in public right-of-way is generally prohibited without a special permit.
Chapter 14 of the Lubbock Code regulates vendors. Food trucks on private property in commercial zones need property owner written consent and cannot block parking or access. On City property, vending is limited to park concession agreements awarded by Parks and Recreation or to approved festival zones such as First Friday Art Trail in the Depot District. Operating on public streets, sidewalks, or rights-of-way without a permit violates Chapter 14 and draws immediate removal. Lubbock has experimented with food truck parks and shared commissary lots near downtown and Texas Tech.
Unauthorized ROW vending: immediate cease plus 200 dollar fine.
