Jefferson Parish, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Sec. 22-53(b) layers a zoning-based ban on top of Article III's permit system: except as provided in Chapters 6, 30 and 33, no sale of merchandise, wares, goods, food, food products, plants, flowers, paintings, mirrors or any other saleable product from a truck, automobile, mobile unit, cart, stand, table, temporary building or moveable container is permitted in a Mixed Use Corridor District (MUCD), a Commercial Parkway Overlay Zone (CPZ), or any area governed by Secs. 40-441 through 40-495 of the Code, whether the vending operates on a permanent, temporary or seasonal basis.

That means even a vendor who holds a valid temporary stands registration or mobile food permit under Division 3 still cannot legally set up inside one of these designated districts. Sec. 22-53(c) creates a single narrow exception: the district-based ban is waived for events held at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center at 6400 Airline Drive in Metairie, but only with written approval from the parish's Department of General Services, and even then the vendor must still meet every other applicable requirement of Chapter 22, Sec.

22-75 and following, including the depot, inspection and permit rules that govern mobile food sales elsewhere in the parish. The provision was added by Ord. No. 26235 in 2021 and its JPAC carve-out was added by Ord. No. 26495 in 2022, reflecting the parish's approach of concentrating land-use control for commercial corridor districts while still permitting vetted vending at a specific civic venue.
