Spalding County, GA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 424(a)(3) of the Spalding County Zoning Ordinance sets where and how mobile food vendors may operate in unincorporated Spalding County, separate from the section's ice cream truck rules. A mobile food vendor cannot conduct business on public streets or in the public right-of-way at all, unless it is part of a county-sponsored or approved special event permit. Absent that permit, operations are confined to the parking areas of privately owned, non-residential property; a vendor may work a privately owned residential lot only for a small private gathering or non-profit event that makes no use of public property beyond lawful parking.

Subsection (g) layers on distance rules: a vendor cannot set up within 150 linear feet of the property line of a lot holding a single-family home or townhouse without a special event permit, or within 150 feet of a restaurant entrance, and must stay at least 15 feet from any street intersection, crosswalk, driveway, fire hydrant, alley, handicapped space or building entrance, and 100 feet from gas pumps or underground fuel tanks. Subsection (h) sets vending hours at 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and vendors cannot sit unattended or stored on a site outside those hours.

Before operating at all, subsection (3)(f) requires the vendor to hold a Spalding County Environmental Health Department food service permit, a $1,000,000 liability policy naming the county as additional insured, a signed indemnity agreement, a valid Georgia driver's license, and the private property owner's written, notarized consent, all kept available for inspection inside the vehicle.
