Greeley, CO Frost Depth & Snow Load: Ground Snow Load (2026)

Greeley does something most cities do not: it writes the ground snow load into an amendment to the building code rather than leaving it as a table entry alone, and it names its source. The amended Section 1608.2 states that the ground snow load shall equal 30 pounds per square foot in accordance with the Colorado Design Snow Loads Report published by the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado, dated April 2016. The same 30 psf appears in the city's Table R301.2(1). Naming the underlying study matters because it explains why the figure is what it is and gives a designer something to check against, rather than presenting a number with no provenance. At 30 psf Greeley sits below Denver's 43 psf and Aurora's 40 psf, which is consistent with its position out on the plains.
