Full Breakdown
Clark County Code section 6.56.010 defines a garage sale as the sale of used items owned by the resident holding it, conducted no more than four days per calendar half-year, and expressly excludes residential garage sales from the licensed temporary store category that Chapter 6.56 regulates for peddlers and pop-up vendors. Section 6.28.020(c) separately exempts the same four-day sales from the secondhand-dealer license. Title 30's Unified Development Code lists Garage Sale as an allowed accessory use in every zoning district under section 30.03.03, on the same four-day, twice-yearly condition, so no zoning permit is issued either. These rules cover only unincorporated Clark County; Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Mesquite license under their own municipal codes.
Violations & Fines
Exceeding four days per half-year, or selling goods you don't own, turns the sale into an unlicensed temporary store or secondhand-dealer operation, a Title 6 misdemeanor punishable by up to $1,000 and six months in jail.
