The Las Vegas Unified Development Code treats a garage or yard sale as an accessory use permitted in residential zoning districts without a separate listing on the Land Use Tables, but only if the sale stays within strict limits. 020(B)(1), no property may be offered for sale unless it has been owned and used by the occupant of the premises, meaning residents cannot use their yard as a staging ground to resell merchandise bought elsewhere for the sale. The code allows no more than two garage or yard sales on the same premises in any calendar year, and each individual sale cannot run longer than three days.

Sales must be conducted during daylight hours only; running a sale after dark is outside the accessory-use permission and puts the resident back into needing a separate zoning approval for what would then be treated as a commercial use on a residential lot. 140(F)(5), the UDC's sign standards for temporary residential signage, which governs size, placement and duration for that kind of posting separately from the sale-frequency rule itself. Because the garage sale exemption sits inside the accessory-use chapter, exceeding any one of these limits (a third sale in the same year, a fourth day of selling, or reselling purchased inventory) removes the activity from the accessory-use safe harbor entirely, exposing the property to code enforcement as an unpermitted commercial use in a residential district.
