Las Vegas, NV Fence Regulations: Material Restrictions (2026)

Clark County Code Title 30 Section 30.56 and the Uniform Development Code prohibit barbed wire, razor ribbon, concertina wire, and electrified fences in all residential zones (R-E, R-1, R-2, R-3, R-U, and equivalent). Such fencing is allowed only in M-1, M-2, M-D, and I-P industrial zones and generally only on the upper portion of a fence at least 6 feet high. Chain link fencing is permitted by code but is prohibited or heavily restricted in nearly every master-planned community HOA including Summerlin, Anthem, Mountains Edge, Aliante (boundary with Clark County), and Providence. Masonry, split-face CMU, stucco over block, and wrought iron on masonry pillars are standard and in many communities required by architectural guidelines. Vinyl fencing is permitted county-wide but some HOAs restrict color and profile. Solid view-obstructing fences on street-facing elevations may require Design Review when over 4 feet. Fence materials must be maintained; Title 14 Section 14.55.020 classifies deteriorated fencing (leaning, broken, graffiti-covered) as a public nuisance with abatement authority. Painted murals and non-standard colors can require HOA and sometimes Clark County Design Review approval when visible from an arterial.
