OPMC 5.44.020 makes it unlawful for any person or household to hold more than two garage sales at the same location within one calendar year. When residents of more than one household join a single sale, the sale counts against each participating residence, so a block sale burns one of everyone's two slots. The Director of Planning and Development Services, or a designee, may allow one additional sale in the same year for an estate sale following an owner's death or a moving sale following the sale of the residence, on submission of sufficient documentation. Merchandise must be personal property of the residents or a participating immediate neighbor; goods bought for resale and commercial merchandise are barred under 5.44.026.
