Vancouver does not impose an annual frequency limit on garage sales. Under VMC 20.885.020, garage and yard sales lasting no more than two consecutive days are exempt from temporary-use permits. Garage sale signage is capped at 7 calendar days of posting per calendar year.
VMC Section 20.885.020 lists garage and yard sales as exempt from the temporary-use permit requirements of Chapter 20.885, provided each event does not exceed two consecutive days. No provision in the Vancouver Municipal Code limits how often a household may hold garage sales during a calendar year. Home occupation permits are also not required for garage sales. Signage is separately regulated: VMC 20.960.030(N) prohibits garage sale signs that remain posted more than 7 calendar days in any one calendar year β signs must be removed once the event ends and the annual 7-day total may not be exceeded. Sales must comply with other code provisions, including noise and nuisance standards.
No permit required; no frequency cap to violate. Signage violations under VMC 20.960.030(N) are subject to VMC Chapter 22.02 civil enforcement, including notice of violation and monetary penalties.
