Full Breakdown
Under Sec. 49-107.3, Aurora's home-occupation rules prohibit any signage or display of items indicating from outside the dwelling that a home occupation is operating there: no yard signs, window displays or exterior branding of any kind. Inside the home, only items actually produced by the home-occupation operator may be displayed, and direct retail sales or rentals off a display shelf are barred; customers may only pick up an order placed earlier by phone or other prior arrangement. The rule applies citywide in every residential zoning district, from the Estate district through R-5A multi-family.
Violations & Fines
Displaying a sign or any exterior evidence of a home business violates Sec. 49-107.3 and is enforced by the Zoning Administrator as a zoning code violation.
