Coral Springs Land Development Code Chapter 18 strictly regulates signs throughout the city. Section 1814 prohibits animated signs, sandwich/sidewalk signs, banner signs, advertising balloons, and windborne advertising devices. Home-based businesses must comply with both local sign regulations and state law under F.S. 559.955.
Chapter 18 of the Coral Springs Land Development Code governs all signage within city limits. Section 1814 enumerates prohibited signs including animated signs, sandwich or sidewalk signs (except as approved under Section 1806), banner signs, flags, pennants or bunting used for advertising purposes, and advertising balloons or windborne devices. Under Florida Statute 559.955, home-based businesses must comply with relevant local sign regulations, but the city cannot impose signage restrictions on home businesses that are more stringent than those applied to any other residence. Temporary sign regulations under Section 1806 provide limited allowances for certain sign types in residential areas, including real estate signs. Commercial-style signage identifying a home-based business is generally not permitted in residential zones. Violations of the sign code are enforced by the Coral Springs Code Compliance Division.
Sign code violations are enforced through the Code Compliance Division. Unauthorized signs may be removed and the property owner cited. Repeat violations may be referred to the Special Magistrate for escalating fines.
