The City of Lorain allows one non-illuminated home-occupation sign no larger than two square feet, attached to the wall of the dwelling. No other change to the exterior of the home is permitted.
Under Lorain Zoning Code Section 11.06(E)(2), a home occupation may have no change to the exterior of the dwelling except one non-illuminated exterior sign of not more than two square feet attached to the dwelling wall. The city's sign schedule (Table 15.06-1) confirms one home-occupation sign per dwelling, two square feet maximum, mounted on the dwelling facade, in residential districts. Illuminated or freestanding business signs are not permitted for home occupations. Township home businesses follow the sign rules in their own zoning resolution under ORC 519. Contact the city zoning office before installing any sign.
An oversized, illuminated, or freestanding home-business sign violates the sign code; the city can order its removal and impose municipal-code penalties.
