Because Pawtucket's housing stock runs heavily to triple-deckers and converted mill units where a storefront-style sign would stand out on a residential street, the one-square-foot, unlit standard functions as the dividing line between a home office a neighbor would not notice and a business advertising for walk-in customers. A resident occupying an eligible mill-building conversion listed in the 2014 Pawtucket Mill Building Survey may still use the by-right category under Subsection C(2)(g), but remains bound by the same one-square-foot sign cap.
